The Department of Real Estate (DRE) is pleased to announce two significant changes to the real estate salesperson examination program that became available on March 1, 2005.
1. Original salesperson examination applicants can schedule their examination online using eLicensing available from the DRE website www.dre.ca.gov .
2. As part of a pilot project (April - June), salesperson examinations can be scheduled/rescheduled in six new locations - Redding, Santa Rosa, San Jose, Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, and San Bernardino.
In addition to the examination services already available online, salesperson examination applicants will be able to apply for their initial examination date using eLicensing. Applicants must certify that they have completed or are enrolled in a three semester or four unit courses in Real Estate Principles at an accredited college or through an approved DRE sponsor. A transcript showing proof of completion of Real Estate Principles may be submitted any time thereafter, but must be provided prior to the issuance of a license.
DRE is also embarking on a pilot project to expand examination access and facilities. During the pilot project (April - June), salesperson examinations can be scheduled in six additional locations - Redding, Santa Rosa, San Jose, Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, and San Bernardino. Availability of space in each location will vary depending on the monthly volume of applicants. Should this pilot project prove successful, beginning next summer, DRE will consider expanding scheduling access for broker examinations at the new locations.
As an important note, examination applicants should not fax or mail applications for a request in which they used eLicensing. Duplicate submittals will delay processing and result in the forfeiture of duplicate application fees.
Using eLicensing will expedite processing of examination requests and it is the fastest method to get scheduled for the examination.
